Integrative Medicine Treatment for Postoperative Rehabilitation and Pain

The surgical process often involves blood loss and postoperative bruising, which can disrupt the smooth circulation of Qi and blood, impair organ function, and lead to a state of deficiency. In response to this, the CUHK Chinese Medicine Clinics (CUSCM Clinics) and TST Kei Yau Integrated Health Centre, Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong have jointly launched the " Integrative Medicine Treatment for Postoperative Rehabilitation and Pain." This initiative is designed to assist you and your family in recovering post-surgery, alleviating sequelae, and providing rehabilitation training.

Chinese Medicine Treatment
Chinese medicine treatment not only addresses and mitigates the sequelae associated with surgeries and chemotherapy-related symptoms, such as limb paralysis, but also offers comprehensive body regulation. It enhances the healing of bones and soft tissues, thereby improving recovery efficiency and quality. This is achieved through the administration of internal herbal medicine to strengthen the patient's constitution, while external therapies such as acupuncture, massage, cupping, and herbal washes are employed to relieve specific symptoms.

Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy
Physiotherapy and occupational therapy utilize posture assessment, palpation, and movement analysis to identify the underlying causes of pain or restricted mobility in patients. Through manual therapy, advanced therapeutic equipment, and targeted rehabilitation exercises, these therapies aim to alleviate pain and restore muscle function and overall mobility.

If you are suffering from the following symptoms or postoperative sequelae, you are welcome to join this program.

  • Pain
  • Impaired joint mobility or limited range of motion due to scar adhesion and traction
  • Limb numbness / edema / limited mobility
  • Chemotherapy-induced limb numbness
  • Muscle loss / sarcopenia
  • Fatigue and lassitude
  • Constipation, diarrhea, or epigastric/abdominal distension
